Reddit, always on the forefront of the technology world, is looking for a cryptocurrency engineer.
Their ideal candidate would be someone with a strong math or computer science background who can “explore new technology applications and infrastructure involving the blockchain and cryptocurrency.”
But beware! Your code will be available for the world to see. “Almost all of our code is open source and we believe strongly in contributing back to the community,” the posting says.
Reddit and Cryptocurrency
Reddit has played an important role in the rise and development of cryptocurrency communities since the beginning.
The subreddit /r/bitcoin has over 131,000 subscribers at the time of this writing. The communities for Litecoin, Dogecoin, Darkcoin, and for cryptocurrency in general are all lively as well.
On top of that, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian has voiced his cautious support for cryptocurrency. He’s experimented with Dogecoin on Twitter, and joined Joe Rogan on his popular podcast to discuss, among other things, Bitcoin and cryptocurrency.
Redditors can also purchase a “Reddit Gold” account, which unlocks additional features, using Bitcoin.
What Reddit plans to do with their new cryptocurrency engineer remains to be seen.
