Darkwallet has entered the final push in its development, and they need our help.
“In Dec 2013, you trusted us with your money and we delivered on time,” the development team, which includes well known anarchist developer Amir Taaki of PayPub and Dark Market, posted on UnSystem’s wiki page. “Now we’re aiming for the last lap, and need a final push from you to release Darkwallet public 1.0.”
Funding Darkwallet
The developers of Darkwallet have been working on it for some time, and of course all development incurs costs. But despite that, the Darkwallet team is confident enough in their idea that they’re willing to see it to the end.
In the spirit of open source software development, the Darkwallet team have been entirely transparent about their budget. A full list breaks down exactly how much they’ve requested, and what they’ll be spending the funds on.
This includes 1 BTC per month for five developers for 4 months (20 BTC total), 1600 EUR for Amir Taaki’s travel costs, food, internet, etc, a marketing campaign, and more.
They even go so far as to outline exactly what Taaki will be eating during that period. Looks like rice, pasta, eggs, canned tomatoes, and sausages, among others.
They outline a minimum requirement of 35 BTC to move forward with the project, but an optimal amount of 55 BTC in order to provide support for the families of those who have been helping the development team until now, provide an insurance buffer, and repair old or damaged equipment.
As of this writing, Darkwallet has raised 26 BTC. To help them reach their goal, click here.
