Richard Branson Just Keeps Investing In Bitcoin - From The CoinFront

Richard Branson, the famed head of hundreds of different businesses under the Virgin banner, is one of Bitcoin’s wealthiest proponents.

Having already begun accepting Bitcoin payments for his Virgin Galactic space tourism company last year, Branson has now become one of the investors in British-based Bitcoin wallet and blockchain explorer site Blockchain.info.

The company was able to raise $30 million from the likes of Branson, Roger Ver, and several investment firms including Lightspeed Venture Partners, Mosaic Ventures, and Prudence Holdings.

Branson has also invested in Atlanta-based Bitcoin payment processor BitPay. BitPay has been responsible for bringing some large and influential merchants into the Bitcoin space, including Greenpeace, xHamster, Beepi, NewEgg, Tiger Direct, and many others.

Why Does Branson Love Bitcoin?

It’s pretty clear that Richard Branson is a believer in Bitcoin’s potential. If nothing else, he believes he can make some money from it.

But what is it that draws him to the Bitcoin world?

“The potential for a global transformation in payments powered by Bitcoin is very exciting”, Branson said in a statement on his investment in Blockchain.info. “Consumers are being offered much greater control and freedom with their money.”

In an interview with Bloomberg last month, he explained why he began accepting Bitcoin with Virgin Galactic: “I’m not foolish. If people have lots of bitcoins and they want to get into space, I’d much rather they spend that on our spaceships.”

Richard Branson is hardly the only wealthy and powerful individual to embrace Bitcoin’s potential, but his support will certainly help both BitPay and Blockchain.info move forward.
