Brazilian Real Estate Company Tecnisa Accepts Bitcoin - From The CoinFront

Tecnisa, a Brazilian real estate company, has begun accepting Bitcoin. But unlike most Bitcoin companies, they’re offering a real incentive for their clients to use it.

“Tecnisa offers a bonus of 5% for those who use bitcoins in the first installment”, the company said on their page (via Google translate). “For example: for every R$ 10,000 paid in bitcoins you get… R$ 500 discount.”

The company will be initially accepting Bitcoin only for down-payments on their properties, though they may expand their Bitcoin services in the future depending on the reception.

“Tecnisa is always preparing for the future, in search of what is trending…The market is already looking for Bitcoin as something promising,” said Romeo Busarello, Tecnisa’s marketing director.

The company formed in 1977, and began selling real estate online in 2001. While they did have naysayers in the initial period, today nearly half of Tecnisa’s revenue comes from online real estate sales.

And with such a strong online presence, it only makes sense they would open themselves to as many payment options as possible, including Bitcoin.

In order to process their transactions, the company has partnered with Bitinvest, another Brazilian company. They provide services similar to Coinbase in the US.

Bitcoin In South America

The Bitcoin sphere seems to be growing cautiously in South America amid a fairly hostile environment.

Bolivia and Ecuador have closed their doors to Bitcoin altogether, and Argentina’s strict laws regarding the transfer of value from one currency to another makes Bitcoin’s future there dubious, even as its Bitcoin economy strengthens and grows.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin businesses are beginning to emerge in South America. Venezuela’s SurBitcoin and Argentina’s BitPagos stand out most. There are also three Bitcoin ATMs on the continent; two in Sao Paolo, Brazil, and one in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Tecnisa is the latest in this long line of South American businesses jumping into the Bitcoin world.
